BREPARK is not just responsible for the construction and operation of parking facilities. Another central task for many years has been the implementation of measures that help to preserve the inner city as the beating heart of Bremen.

In order to increase the attractiveness of Bremen's inner city, BREPARK has acted to develop various buildings and arcades. For example, the "Katharina" shopping arcade was developed between 1984 and 1994, and the "Lloyd-Passage" opened in 1990. The Domshof-Forum with its glazed roof opened in 1999. Since then, the "Alex" cafe and restaurant has become a popular meeting place for Bremen's inhabitants, as well as tourists and guests from around the world.

In 2002 BREPARK built a five-storey extension onto the Mitte multi-storey car park The BürgerServiceCenter offers a wide range of information and services.

The expansion of the multi-storey car park in Langenstrasse has also created a number of new attractive business locations. As well as housing a top-quality restaurant, this central location in Bremen's city centre also created space for a new food market. The changes to the multi-storey car park made a long-lasting improvement to the pedestrian link between Obernstrasse and Langenstrasse.

BREPARK – bringing you closer!

The first shopping arcade in Bremen's inner city has now been around for 30 years: The Katharinen-Passage is affectionately known simply as KATHARINA by customers and resident businesspeople alike.
The arcade, with its many specialist shops nestles beneath the "Katharinenklosterhof" multi-storey car park in the ancient walls of the former Katharinenkloster abbey. The large Gothic windows in the abbey's cloister and the interior vaults now house a restaurant. The remains of the old building can still be clearly seen here.
What used to be a quiet retreat is now a lively location with an interesting and diverse mix of retail, service businesses and restaurants.

Further information about the Katharinen-Passage can be found here.

Everything you could want in one central location!

On 30 April 1990 Bremen celebrated the opening of the Lloyd-Passage shopping precinct as the first covered public street in Germany.

This innovative measure to enhance the city centre has proven to be a hit with both the people of Bremen and tourists: In the meantime, the LLOYD PASSAGE has become the most-frequented street in Bremen. Located in the heart of the city, it is the centre for events of all kinds. The popular shopping arcade is open daily for visitors to shop, stroll about and see and experience the goings-on. The total retail area measures approximately 56,000 m². The arcade is worth a stroll even after opening hours.

One of the major highlights is the Mall of Fame: Many international stars, such as James last or peter Maffay, are immortalised here with their hand-prints.

And, best of all: you can park close by in the Mitte multi-storey car park, which has direct access to the arcade. The precinct's unmistakable flair can be enjoyed whatever the weather as the entire area is covered with a glass canopy.

You can find out more about the shops and their opening hours as well as events in the LLOYD PASSAGE at:

The Stadtdach Domshof-Forum is a meeting place for young and old alike: the modern design by architects Jutta and Peter Schürmann, commissioned by the building's owners BREPARK, opened in July 1999. The eight giant glass umbrellas span about 1,200 square metres of floor space at a height of 12 metres. Beneath it, the Alex café-bistro, with its clear, open glass construction over three floors, invites you to stop and relax and offers an interesting view of events in the lively market on the Domshof square in the morning hours.

The Domshof-Forum is a key thoroughfare, linking Sögestrasse, the Katharinenviertel district, the Domshof-Passage arcade and the glass-covered Wall-Boulevard for form a single unit.

At the end of 2002, BREPARK, as owners of the modern six-storey building, handed over the keys and responsibility for the new BürgerServiceCenter (Citizens' Service Center) to its tenants. The building, which is flooded with light thanks to its glass construction, nestles up close to the Mitte multi-storey car park. People who live in Bremen and those who would like to do so now have a central location where they can renew their passport, apply for a business license or to get contact and advice on tax questions.

The bremen-service agency on the first floor helps and advises newcomers to the city on all questions that arise during a change of location, whether to or within Bremen. The ideal location of the BürgerServiceCenter directly next to the Mitte multi-storey car park means that customers and visitors have no parking problems and can combine needful tasks with a pleasant stroll through the city of Bremen.
